Nebbie Crosses the Bridge.

Sometimes, all I need is the air that YOU breathe.

The dumpster kitty had to leave today. She had a quick onset illness relating to her liver. I was going to bring her home for one more night of cuddling and having a talky talk with her, but I didn't want her to be in any kind of discomfort. She had a bit of salmon yums last night and sat on my computer chair and we chatted early this morning about the engravings she has left on my wood work upstairs by the bedroom door.

Nebbie was always a bit of a pig food wise, and she would eat whatever was leftover after the others had their twice weekly treats of canned num nums.

It will be a lot quieter now with one less chatterbox at 2 AM. This is my second cat loss in three months and now only Spencer, age 12 remains. Nebbie was the baby by several years. I just put her bed and sleepy cave off to the side until I can deal with it. My cat cemetery under the pines is getting full and my heart feels so empty. Goodbye, my little girl.

I Didn't Abandon This Blog!

I have been busy. Working on some recipes and enjoying my garden growing (aside from the dog eating my tomatoes and peppers and yes, he loves the hot ones, too). I have a bunch of photos and recipes backed up on my external drive (and hope they restore to the new computer when I get some time). I also have new things on my card blog listed on the sidebar.

But you may like this dish. I really have no recipe for it. I tend to grab and see what happens.

I used extra firm tofu which was already cubed and sauted it in peanut oil with hot pepper flakes. I added various herbs and spices, some garlic, and some unsalted peanuts. This was served over brown rice. The carrots were steamed with corn and Lima beans and a dollop of marmalade melted in Earth Balance with garlicky salt was added atop. It was a nice summery and very quick dinner as the rice had been pre-made and frozen. Before serving, I added some homegrown shredded basil. Even the doggies like this!

PS-the photo is crap, I know. I have been saving for a macro and every time I get close, something else comes up. Steamy food seems to strobe for me. I took this photo using only the stove top light. I need to upgrade my stuff!

I must wait for the sunrise.
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in.
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory, too
And a new day will begin.

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun.
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is.
Look, A new day has begun.....

Goodbye my boy. I will miss your hand nibbles and talkies.
Now every day is your day in the sun.

Heart the Dyess.

I was at a Pistons game in January courtesy of Detroit Bad Boys and Matt Watson, which was a raffle of sorts from Matt's Twitter account. I just now am sorting thru the photos I took with hub's yucky camera. I have become reluctant to take my Rebel into places because of photo restrictions, so this one fit in pocket.

This was a so so photo until I played around with it. I think I am onto Leroy Neiman a bit with this one. Just using the Vista photo enhancer and I could never do this again, but sure was surprised at what I got. Maybe I can eventually take out the guard and that wayward face on the bottom, but until that happens, I am pleased with what I got so far.

I "heart" my Dyess and wish he could get a ring but it won't be in Detroit, as this team was screwed the minute AI came here. Dyess deserves better and had a chance to go to Boston, but came home. At least pay the man his due, Joe.

I Robot

Do you know this face? Probably not. But the whimsy in his features should have never been hidden. I watched him on TV every week during the 60's with my brothers. We had toys of him. And I so wished I could have spent a few hours doing what he did so well. And to bring joy to kids and adults along the way.

His name is Bob May and he died today.
You know him better as Robot.
